Reading is a vital part of not only this class, but of one's life. Different people read for different reasons, and of course, they read different things. To begin the class, we will be reading a lot of the same stories in an effort to remind ourselves of the many conventions we come across every time we crack a book. But later in the year, we will begin to explore other novels, and there will come some choices. If you are interested in how the Reading Workshop works, check out this New York Times article.

We will spend a fair amount of time in it. I know, it is heavy, but that is because it contains such good literature! Don't worry, it won't be long before you can tuck a paperback in your back pocket and call yourself prepared. Here are some other novels that are being considered for the class. If you would like to add some suggestions, send a message to me, Mr. McNulty, with your suggestion, and I will put it here so that the class may consider it. Happy reading!
